J.M. Coetzee leest een verhaal voor uit een nieuw nog te verschijnen boek Moral Stories of Moral Tales; zeven verhalen waarin Elizabeth Costello de hoofdrol heeft. Moral stories is dus een vervolg op Elizabeth Colstello; eight lessons. Coetzee: ‘In the Moral Tales the book you’re now talking about, Elizabeth is an old woman facing her death, but with a fairly fierce sense that there are things she still wants to say or have said on her behalf before she disappears from the scene.’
