Aimée de Jongh heeft voor haar graphic novel Lord of the Flies een Esiner Award gewonnen in de categorie ‘Best Adaptation from Another Medium’. De graphic novel van De Jongh is gebaseerd op de gelijknamige roman van William Golding. De Eisner Awards zijn vernoemd naar striptekenaar Will Eisner en worden binnen de stripwereld hooggewaardeerd. De awards werden uitgereikt in 32 categorieën voor werken die in 2025 zijn gepubliceerd. De awards werden bekendgemaakt tijdens Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Het is voor het eerst dat een Nederlander een Eisner Award wint.

Op Instagram schrijft De Jongh:

Woke up with this crazy news and I’m still overwhelmed. The Eisners are the biggest award in comics, often compared to The Oscars. It won in the category Best Adaptation From Another Medium. It’s my first win after 4 nominations. It’s the first ever Eisner Award received by Dutch comic artist. 🇳🇱 and I’m SO proud to represent my country!

Thank you so much for this incredible moment. It’s an honour to receive the Eisner for best Adaptation From Another Medium. It’s my first Eisner – so you can imagine my excitement. What makes it even more special, is the category. Isn’t it incredible, that through the accessible nature of the medium, readers might get in touch with stories they would normally not pick up? This book is an adaptation of a literary classic from 1954… Still, through the graphic novel, we were able to reach young readers everywhere, especially in schools. This is what the medium can do. And I hope many more comic book adaptations will follow. I want to dedicate this award to the Golding family, who gave me their full trust and support. I also want to thank my partner Bob, my editor Angus Cargill at Faber, my publisher Penguin Random House, and the amazing team: Elda, Rachel, Gabriel and Becca. Thank you all. – Aimée de Jongh
